In a blow to the possible resumption of locally sourced ex-UK cruises and the prospects for British passengers joining a fly cruise, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office has advised against cruise ship travel at this time.
In a statement issued Thursday the FOC added: ‘This is due to the ongoing pandemic and is based on medical advice from Public Health England.’
Prior advice applied to over-70s
The UK government had previously urged over-70s to avoid cruise ships due to coronavirus.
The FOC said it will continue to review its cruise ship travel policy and advised any passengers booked on a future cruise to speak to the cruise operator or travel company for further advice.
On a more positive note, the FOC will ‘continue to support the Department for Transport’s work with industry for the resumption of international cruise travel.’
