Currently being constructed by Meyer Werft and originally scheduled to arrive in August this year, the cruise line expects to take delivery in early autumn.
Nigel Blanks, Managing Director of Saga Cruises, said: ‘My team is in the process of calling all passengers booked on the inaugural cruise to update them with this latest development and we look forward to welcoming them onboard. We have been working with the industry and government to put in place state-of-the-art appropriate health protocols, putting guest safety first to ensure a return to service in the autumn.’
The 972-passenger new ship was due to be named in Portsmouth on August 19, 2020. Saga confirmed to Seatrade that it is working on finalising all of the details around milestones such as the naming ceremony and will provide updates soon.
