MSC Cruises reports no injuries among the 51 crew aboard MSC Lirica, on fire alongside in the Port of Corfu.
Fireboats are helping battle the blaze, with photos showing thick black smoke billowing from the midships starboard side of the vessel.
The 2003-built ship is currently in warm layup and not carrying any passengers.
Fire appears to have started in an empty lifeboat
An MSC Cruises spokesman told Seatrade Cruise News the fire ‘seems to have originated in an empty lifeboat on Deck 6.’
He added: ‘A full incident response operation is currently underway with the support of the local emergency services.’
The spokesman said no injuries were reported among the 51 crew.
