Nauticor's tank vessel Kairo conducted the first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in a Bremen port when Iona was fueled at Bremerhaven's Columbus Quay last month.
Fuel transported from Finland
Kairo transported the liquid gas from Bremerhaven’s twin town, Pori in Finland.
1,300 cubic meters of LNG
A total volume of about 1,300 cubic meters of LNG was pumped into Iona for 15 hours using a cryogenic hose capable of withstanding temperatures as low as minus 160 degrees C.
This was the first time Iona’s LNG tanks were filled.
The P&O Cruises ship was built at Meyer Werft and has been undergoing final outfitting at Columbus Cruise Center.
