In January, it will launch a series of exclusive ‘boot camp’ webinars covering member cruise lines’ main Wave activity, as well as new ships, itineraries and experiences.
CLIA will also hold its first ever Parliamentary event for agents to attend, who will be advised on how trade can continue to play an important role within the industry and be offered the chance to meet key members of Parliament (MPs), including new tourism minister, Stuart Andrew.
The association hosts its annual RiverView conference in Vienna in March, followed by its flagship conference in Southampton in May. The latter will include a pre-session for agents new to selling cruises and follow the theme ‘#CruiseHeroes,’ calling to attention some of the leaders in the industry credited with making an outstanding contribution to its success.

Their positivity, support and incredible hard work has been inspiring, and we end the year on a high as a result of all their efforts.’
He added, ‘We can all look forward to 2023 with a real sense of optimism and have much to look forward to, not least with all the new initiatives and products that are set to be introduced.’
Collaboration on shore power and alternative fuels
CLIA stated that it has continued its engagement campaign with government officials, MPs, Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and advisors this year. The government recently initiated a working group, allowing the cruise industry to meet with cross-government officials on new opportunities and challenges.
The approach will be maintained in 2023, according to the association, as it looks to further collaborate on opportunities, including for shore power and alternative fuels.
Introduced to agents in 2022
CLIA stated it has regularly updated its online resources this year, including adding two new sections: a ‘cruise daily’ page housing the latest industry news, opinion, trends and trade opportunities; and a brand profiles page, which gives agents access to information and contact details for each CLIA member cruise line.
A ‘New to luxury and ultra-luxury cruise guide’, the fifth in a series aimed at agents selling or looking to start selling high-end products, was launched this year plus a ‘New to yacht and sail cruise guide.’
