The price is not known. The 77,499gt Sea Princess was built in 1998 for $300m. Apart from Princess Cruises, it also operated briefly for P&O Cruises and, most recently, for P&O Cruises Australia.
Sold by Carnival Corp. in 2020
Shedding older, less efficient vessels, Carnival Corp. & plc sold Sea Princess in 2020 to Sanya International Cruise Development. It was renamed Charming and underwent drydock work. V.Ships Leisure and sister company Oceanic Catering were tapped for ship and hotel management.
Hasn’t operated as Charming
Due to the pandemic, Charming remained idle.
It lies at anchorage off Xiamen, according to AIS data.
Plans for the ship haven’t been published. It is expected to be managed in-house.
