For Salvado it is ‘a return home’ she told Seatrade, having left the port in 2016 after over 20 years working in different sides of the business.
Santiago Garcia-Milà new role
In a restructure, the Port of Barcelona has created a new innovation and strategy division to be headed by Santiago Garcia-Milà and is turning his current strategy and sales division into a sales and marketing function that Salvado will lead. The pair will spend the next three months working towards a full handover.
The Port said the reorganisation is to better respond to challenges such as the transformation of logistics-port business models, alternative energy, digital developments and business disruption, such as COVID-19.
Salvado will be responsible for all apsects of the port’s business including cruise but Mar Perez will continue in her role of head of cruise, a postion she took on when Salvado left four years ago.
In cruise since 2003
Salvadó, who was head of marketing and cruises at the Port of Barcelona until 2016 started working at the Port in 1992 (on the retail side), and was first involved in the cruise industry in 2003.
She was Secretary General of MedCruise for three years and served as MedCruise president for a spell in 2014 but remained on its Board of Director in subsequent years whilst working at the Port and also at Global Port Holdings. Salvado studied Economics and Business Management at the Pompeu Fabra University and ESADE Business School.
