‘We are thrilled to announce the name of our first Chinese-built large cruise ship,’ revealed Chen Ranfeng, MD, CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited. ‘Adora Magic City is not just a cruise ship, but a captivating experience that presents the best of Chinese hospitality and global cruising practice. We can’t wait to share this unforgettable journey with our guests.’
The 135,500gt Adora Magic City is 323.6mtr in length and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers. Currently under construction at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, it is scheduled to set sail at the end of 2023.
The second Chinese-built large cruise ship for Adora Cruises is yet to be named, but has entered its design and construction phase.
Plans for 5G network
The operator is working with Shanghai Telecom for the vessel to become 5G-enabled, allowing passengers seamless communication with the option between mobile 5G and Wi-Fi 6 network packages.
Combining the best of East and West
Adora says that the vessel will offer an immersive experience that blends Eastern and Western cultures, with Shanghai serving as its home port during its inaugural season.
The ship takes inspiration from great metropolises, showcasing a tasteful combination of traditional and classic culture and modern and fashionable lifestyle.
Adora alleges that Adora Magic City will offer ‘the largest duty-free retail space at sea’ owing to its partnership with China Duty Free Group.
Theatre and comedy
Adora has teamed up with Mahua FunAge, a leading comedy production company in China, to deliver live comedy entertainment onboard the ship. It has also collaborated with Selection International Entertainment, a globally recognised creative production house, to create a modern production for the vessel entitled, ‘Marco Polo: An Enchanted Love Tale.’
A production called ‘Magic City’ will reveal the charm of modern city life and the diverse and vibrant kaleidoscope culture of Shanghai on the ship’s main stage at sea.
